Hani Al Moulia
Acclaimed Photographer and Social Justice Advocate
After narrowly escaping the destruction and violence that killed members of their extended family, Hani Al Moulia and his family fled war-torn Syria to a UN refugee camp in Lebanon. In the spring of 2015, Hani was featured in a UN documentary that followed his family’s settlement from the refugee camp to Regina, Saskatchewan. In December 2015, he was honoured at the Canadian Journalists for Free Expression gala in Toronto for his courageous reporting. Hani’s award-winning photography can be found around the world and has been hailed by the New York Times, Fast Company, and American Photo Magazine, among others.
Hani is a member of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s first Youth Council, where he advises on national issues such as employment, access to education, building stronger communities, climate change, and clean growth.
